'On the verge of something' - fans on season so far
Transfer window was obviously a car crash but really positive signs from Hayden Hackney and Tyler Dibling in particular means we are feeling positive. Most Evertonians are waiting for that to turn somehow, but if we can keep Jarrad Branthwaite fit especially, I think we have good times ahead. Standout moment so far was that debut goal for Ainsley Maitland-Niles!
How do you feel about Everton's start to the season?
As we enter the season's first international break, we want to hear your thoughts on the opening five games of the Premier League. After an underwhelming summer transfer window, perhaps some fans will still be restless with the club's hierarchy. On the pitch though, David Moyes has made the most of his squad as the Toffees have made a strong start to the season.
'Cahill calm over owners unlikely to ease fan concern'
Tim Cahill has suggested Everton fans should not be concerned about the owners' lack of visibility and that supporters "have to be careful what you wish for". Most understood The Friedkin Group needed time to unpick the tangled financial web left behind by the Farhad Moshiri era. The early business deals, such as consolidating the club's high-interest debt and replacing it with a long-term financing deal with JPMorgan Chase, felt a healthy step forward.
'A really positive start for Barry'
Thierno Barry has been the surprise hit of Everton's season so far, with the 23-year-old striker the match-winner against Ipswich to take his tally to five goals this season. Analysis: Farke's side defensively strong again
Leeds came into this match on the back of their best performance of the season so far as they overpowered Newcastle 4-1 on Monday, but for large parts of the match at Elland Road, Crystal Palace were the better side. Leeds go into the three-week international break having conceded just three goals, which, level with Everton, is the joint fewest in the top flight. Daniel Farke will be delighted with how his side have performed so far this season, but will also feel they could have taken all three points if his main striker had converted a glorious chance.
'A thin squad but they still have quality'
When David Moyes returned for a second spell in charge of Everton in January 2025, the Toffees were 16th, one point clear of the relegation zone. There's been a lot of discontent among the fanbase regarding the owners and a transfer policy that left themselves short in forward areas.
Moyes demands more from Everton
Fifth in the Premier League table and yet to lose this season, Everton are on the up, but boss David Moyes wants further improvements - and don't mention Europe.
Analysis: Moyes' Toffees moving in right direction
Manager David Moyes will be delighted at the start his Everton side have made to the campaign. The Toffees won none of their final seven games as they finished 13th last season and missed out on the European qualification that at one stage had been within their grasp. Everton also suffered a tough end to the transfer window, with key attacking midfielder Iliman Ndiaye going to Manchester City in a £65m deal and striker Beto, their top scorer last season, leaving for Fiorentina for £14.6m.

This was Arsenal's biggest league defeat in a season where they were the reigning top-flight champions since October 1989, a 3-0 loss at Everton.

"I said to Tyler before the game 'you're getting your chance, you've waited a long time, make sure that you perform well and then you give the manager a big decision to make about whether you're in the team the next time' so that was great."
Garner crucial for Everton's European push
James Garner's consistent displays last season earned him a first England cap in a friendly against Uruguay in March. After the match, England manager Thomas Tuchel compared him with Uruguay and Real Madrid midfielder Federico Valverde. "He's our mini Valverde," said Tuchel.
'I didn't realise probably how good he was'
James Garner joined Everton for an initial fee of only £9m from Manchester United in 2022, having spent the previous season on loan helping Nottingham Forest get promoted to the Premier League. The academy graduate did not make a Premier League start for United. After taking two seasons to settle at Everton under Frank Lampard and then Sean Dyche amid a backdrop of financial problems and points deductions, the 2025-26 campaign proved to be a watershed moment.

The 16-year-old attacker made 13 appearances in all competitions last season and scored against Everton to become the youngest scorer in Premier League history. Spurs 'a blunt instrument' as 'stuttering start' continues
Tottenham's goalless league streak extended to 407 minutes as a stuttering start to what was meant to be brave new era continued in Saturday's 0-0 draw at home against Everton. It was the first time they have failed to score in their opening four league games across all four tiers - and also in four successive Premier League matches since September 2006. The grim statistic would be bad enough in any circumstances, but it is even worse after Spurs spent in excess of £300m in the summer, much of it designed to give Roberto De Zerbi's side an added edge.

Mac Allister 'spoke brilliantly'
Former Chelsea and Everton winger Pat Nevin says Liverpool midfielder Alexis Mac Allister "said exactly the right things" when telling media that he is "very sad" not to have been offered a new deal by the club. The Argentine, who joined on a five-year contract from Brighton in June 2023, saw team-mates Dominik Szoboszlai and Ryan Gravenberch extend their Reds deals this year. "I often hear various players saying things and pushing things a certain way and you get a bit fed up with it," Nevin told BBC Radio 5 Live's Football Daily podcast.

"Just to score some goals is important for Villa," Nevin told BBC Radio 5 Live's Football Daily podcast.
2004-05 deja-vu - Can Moyes inspire another fine finish?
Deadline day may have left Everton fans feeling disillusioned, but the side is four games into the season and remains unbeaten, nine goals scored, including two in added time to secure a point. After what was a chaotic close to the transfer window, even by the Toffees' own standards, the performance against Manchester United ironically saw the summer signings playing a key role in the fight. Jack Grealish and Hayden Hackney came on from the bench to turn the game on its head, Tyrique George scored to equalise before the visitors went back in front, and it was Ainsley Maitland-Niles with a stunning strike to secure the draw in the final few seconds.

Everton's Has Selection Headache Heading Into Tottenham Clash
Selection headaches are something a manager can often dream of, and David Moyes could have them heading towards Everton's game against Tottenham in the Premier League this weekend.
'It just can't be happening'
Everton fan Sarah Halpen has criticised the club's hierarchy for being "reactive" rather than "proactive" in the summer transfer window. The Toffees' business, which saw a £40m deal for forward Folarin Balogun collapse late on deadline day, has left manager David Moyes with just 18 senior outfield players until the next transfer window which opens on Friday, 1 January.

Everton's unlikely new hero's journey to Merseyside
There was some bemusement among supporters when Everton announced the arrival of Ainsley Maitland-Niles, who has endured something of a nomadic career since making his professional debut for Arsenal in a Champions League tie against Galatasaray in 2014. Following the retirement of Seamus Coleman at the end of last season, Everton chief executive Angus Kinnear spoke about taking their time to find a replacement. When they eventually settled on Maitland-Niles, it was not the coup supporters had envisaged after a tedious, summer-long search.
Debut winner 'an indescribable feeling' - Maitland-Niles
Scoring a stunning last-minute equaliser against Manchester United on his debut was "an indescribable feeling", says Ainsley Maitland-Niles. The former Arsenal full-back, who joined Everton from Lyon on transfer deadline day, left United goalkeeper Senne Lammens rooted to the spot in the sixth minute of added time when he curled an unstoppable effort into the net. "It's definitely up there with one of my favourite debuts," Maitland-Niles told BBC Radio Merseyside.
Shaw-Rashford 'connection' positive - now Carrick must navigate tricky week
Luke Shaw was one of Manchester United's better performers against Everton. The defender got forward with regularity and it was encouraging to see him provide the cross for Benjamin Sesko's late header. "He was really good," said former United striker Wayne Rooney on Match of the Day.

Everton 2-2 Manchester United: What Carrick said
For just the second time in the last 50 years, Manchester United have conceded two or more goals in each of their first three games of a league season, along with 2020-21. Manchester United's Bryan Mbeumo scored his first Premier League goal against Everton in his 11th game and 22nd shot against them.
Analysis: Depleted Toffees show their fight
The build-up to this match was dominated by conversations about who Everton failed to sign in the transfer window. Since their last league match - a 1-1 draw with Bournemouth eight days ago - they had sold attackers Iliman N'Diaye and Beto, while Nathan Patterson joined Torino. When on-loan Jack Grealish - once the most expensive British player of all time - took to the touchline on his return to the club, he appeared to be Everton's most likely route back into the game.
