Chico entertainment zones not ready despite ordinance taking effect
CHICO, Calif. - An ordinance allowing entertainment zones in Chico where people can move from business to business with alcoholic drinks takes effect on Friday, September 18. But the zones are not yet operational.The ordinance was approved August 18, with the effective date set for 30 days. City officials said they hope to have the zones up and running this fall, but an exact date isn't set. The city is working with the Chamber of Commerce, Meriam Park and the Downtown Chico Business Association on details like approved containers and wristbands.The city is also installing signs that show the boundaries of the entertainment zones. Once operational, the zones will allow customers 21 and over to buy alcoholic drinks from participating businesses and carry them within the boundaries from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.

PRC approves Welcome Hall at Griffin Museum of Science and Industry
The Permit Review Committee has approved plans for a new Welcome Hall and entrance to the Griffin Museum of Science and Industry at 5700 S. Jean Baptiste Pointe DuSable Lake Shore Drive. Located on the Chicago Park District-owned lakefront site, the museum occupies the last surviving building from the 1893 World’s Columbian Exposition. The building has undergone several major changes since the fair, including a 1990s renovation that added underground parking and new visitor facilities in front of the historic structure.
